Course Title

Impact of technology/architecture on Software Licensing

Course Description

This course will provide students with the foundation on how to per-form development having into consideration the way the software will be licensed and used (from a licensing and compliance perspective). In addition, through real case studies, students will understand the effect software compliance has on the failure or succes when selling a software solution.

Objectives

  • · Create awareness on how important software compliance challenges can be prevented during development
  • · Understand how to streamline licensing by implementing a compliance-aware development process.
  • · Provide real life examples to use as reference for a successful licensing.enabler development.

Class Sessions

3 classes a week (1hr each) during eight weeks. Total hours is 24hrs.

Grading

  • · You must complete 2 essays per week during the first 5 weeks.
  • · You must complete 1 essay per week for weeks 6 and 7.
  • · (team activity) You must successfully write a group analysis on a case study related to a hypothetical software solution, including all rules governing how to license the software solution, including all rules governing how to license the software and how to evaluate its compliance. Must be submitted by the end of week 8.
  • · All essays equal 70% of the course´s grading and the team activity will account for 30% of the course´s grading.
  • · The course is successfully completed is you rate 85% of more in your class work.
  • · You can only miss one essay during the entire class. Failure to deliver at least 11 essays will result in course cancellation.
