Course Title

The dynamic of Software licensing of IT plataforms

Course Description

This course teaches students the closed and complex relationship between technology configuration and license deployment. In addition, the course addresses common challenges/milestones that software licensing pose to IT mangers when planning/budgeting and implementing technology in a company. Practical and standard techniques/criteria are provided to resolve these challenges.

Objectives

  • · Have IT Managers understand the effect of licensing on Technology deployment.
  • · Understand IT mangers with elements and criteria to make well documented decisions on when and how to deploy technology while securing compliance.

Requiered Background

Students in this course will requiere knowledge on IT management, financial and technological analysis is important. Contract administration is also relevant.

3 classes a week (1hr each) during eight weeks. Total hours is 24hrs.

Grading

  • · You must complete 2 essays per week during the first 5 weeks.
  • · You must complete 1 essay per week for weeks 6 and 7.
  • · (team activity) You must successfully write a group analysis on a case study related to an IT Platform Deployment (SW and HW), and the impact certain technological changes have in the licensing scenario defined. Must be submitted by the end of week 8.
  • · All essays equal 70% of the course´s grading and the team activity will account for 30% of the course´s grading.
  • · The course is successfully completed is you rate 85% of more in your class work.
  • · You can only miss one essay during the entire class. Failure to deliver at least 11 essays will result in course cancellation.
